Robert Sargeant: Head Coach & Founder, CST ELITE Basketball and Personal Training Academy
Robert Sargeant is the Founder and Head Coach of CST Elite--a New York/New Jersey based basketball and personal training academy. Rob began playing competitive basketball at the early age of 12, when he was chosen to represent his hometown of London, England in the National Team where he picked up numerous scoring awards and championships. Soon after, Sargeant moved to the US, receiving offers for basketball scholarships for high school and university. After graduating with a major in Exercise Sciences, Rob continued on to become a professional basketball player. Coach Sargeant toured the globe playing in the highest levels of international competition, receiving numerous invitations to NBA camps. He spent the 2009 pre-season with the NJ Nets, finally returning to Italy to finish his professional career. In 2012, Coach Sargeant returned to the tri-state area to found CST Elite and give back to the game that has given so much to him.
Rob’s passion and extensive experience playing around the the world has given him the perfect combination of knowledge and leadership qualities needed to motivate the young basketball players seeking an edge over the competition. In his career of coaching basketball, Rob has worked with numerous NBA and European players. He has also helped high school players move onto Division I, II, and III NCAA colleges as well as giving guidance and connections for players to go professionally overseas. He also trains some of NY and NJ’s top high school prospects, and young people ages 6 to 18, to develop their skills. CST Elite provides kids with hard-to-find available court time, advanced equipment, and knowledgeable coaches, as well as training resources above and beyond the competition.
Early Life: Sargeant was born in London, England and began his basketball journey playing for the English national team at the young age of 12. During his time in London he picked upnumerous scoring awards and championships. At the age of 13 Sargeant travelled from England to New Jersey to participate in the renowned Atlantic Cape Basketball Camp and was discovered and scouted by numerous high schools. With Sargeant’s incredible talent, he found endless basketball opportunities available in the US and relocated to the United States. There was no mistake he had a great future in basketball. He attended Bishop Eustace High School in New Jersey, where he earned a scholarship to play basketball at the University of Tampa. Graduating with a Bachelor of Science, and majoring in Exercise Science, he focused on becoming a Strength and Conditioning Specialist.
Basketball Career: With Sargeant’s 6’7’’ build, sharpshooting skills, and athleticism, he was given the opportunity to play professionally overseas in several countries.These countries included Iceland, Italy, Spain, France, and many more. After touring the globe and playing in the highest levels of international competition, Rob received numerous invitations to NBA camps. He spent the 2009 preseason with the New Jersey Nets, before returning to Italy to finish his professional career on the court.
